Ingram Micro Logistics has upgraded the materials handling systems at its extensive Daventry warehouse facility with the introduction of electric-powered articulated Flexi StorMAX two-deep pallet picking and put-away technology from Narrow Aisle.
With their ability to move around the warehouse easily and put away and retrieve full palletised loads from Ingram Micro’s two-deep very narrow aisle racking layouts, the Flexi StorMAX models have increased pallet movements at the Daventry site by 25 per cent per truck.
The introduction of Flexi StorMAX articulated trucks also means that Ingram Micro – who provide supply chain services for a range of diverse companies across the ‘tech’ manufacturing sector – are no longer ‘double handling’ loads, while valuable additional storage space has been created by eliminating the need for ‘pick and deposit’ stations at the end of the aisles.
Ingram Micro’s new Flexi Truck articulated warehouse trucks have been supplied on an easy to manage contract hire agreement with inclusive service and maintenance support, which provides the assurance of fixed costs and optimum truck uptime over a five-year period.
Narrow Aisle’s managing director, John Maguire, commented: “The Flexi Truck range offers logistics service provides many alternative solutions for warehousing needs. In this instance fast throughput capability and maximum storage density are required. Ingram Micro are benefiting from the space and throughput efficiency that Flexi StorMAX Truck technology brings and we are delighted to be working with the company for many years to come.”
