To optimise the efficiency of the online fulfillment services it provides to its growing portfolio of ecommerce clients, Stephen Sanderson Transport, has implemented Utordo multi-channel order management technology.
The company sought a solution capable of integrating with its existing Microlistics warehouse management system (WMS) at its 100,000 sq ft distribution centre in the Midlands with the functionality needed to deliver fast and accurate order fulfillment capability.
Without reconfiguring Stephen Sanderson’s existing WMS, the cloud-hosted Utordo middleware links the company’s warehouse management system with a client’s trading platforms and instantly exports any relevant data relating to each online order to the WMS using secure flat file, XML or API formats so that stock levels and orders are synchronised in real time.
Compatible with all well-known WMS brands, Utordo is rapidly rolled-out thanks to its preconfigured connections and, furthermore, because it is cloud-hosted, all software installation procedures and regular updates are undertaken remotely.
Stephen Sanderson Transport’s commercial director, Ed Sanderson, comments: “Our company’s success has been built on the storage and delivery of palletised loads, so we have had to adapt some of our working practices to meet the growing demand for online fulfillment services.

Stephen Sanderson was able to minimise its up-front costs by acquiring Utordo on a SaaS (Software as a Service) package which, in effect, Utordo software to be hired for a pre-agreed monthly fee.
Ed Sanderson adds: “Utordo has delivered the functionality our WMS needed to provide ultra-reliable ecommerce order fulfillment capability and, because we took advantage of Utordo’s Software as a Service option, the return on our investment has been immediate.”
